Dark Spot Treatment and Color Correction

Lumecca can treat all areas of the body. Most commonly, we treat areas that get regular sun exposure, such as:

Avoid direct, excessive sun exposure or tanning one month prior to treatment.

During dark spot treatment, Lumecca emits a bright light. The flash might feel like a light elastic sensation. After treatment, you might experience redness and slightly warm skin. These symptoms typically diminish within one hour.

Within 48 hours after treatment, the pigmented spots on your skin will darken. During the following week, these pigmented lesions will flake off to even out. If targeting vascular lesions, the veins may blanch and disappear or the vessel’s color may change, but this will dissipate quickly.

An improved skin appearance can be noted after the first session, and multiple sessions provide even better results, especially if you have more pigmented lesions. Treatment regimes depend on the severity of skin damage, type of treatment — vascular vs. sun damage — and energy settings.

When using Lumecca for dark spot removal, you will likely notice skin damage or complexion results just a couple of days after one session. Your skin will appear more youthful and become more radiant over time. The most visible results occur after one to two weeks. Opting for multiple sessions improves your final results. For vascular treatments, such as spider or leg veins, you’ll likely see results in up to two weeks.

Most patients do not experience side effects after IPL treatment. While skin reactions are rare, if they occur, they typically resolve within a few hours. Some individuals may feel more sensitive to sunlight right after treatment. We recommend avoiding direct sunlight and tanning.
